This is one of my favorite snacks – for any time of day. It's inspired by Cafe Gratitude's “I Am Super” (dark chocolate nuggets), but my version is even more simple. These are a great energy boost and quite tasty!
I offer ratios instead of measurements so you can make whatever amount you want! I usually use ½ cup to equal one part, which makes about 20 balls.
- 1 part maca powder
- 1 part raw cacao powder
- a pinch of salt
- Stir these dry ingredients.
- Add 2 parts raw almond butter.
- Add a dash of vanilla.
- Stir it all together. If needed add a bit of water (about ½ a part, or less).
- Roll into balls and store in the refrigerator. Enjoy!

I'm allergic to chocolate. Will carob powder work ok?

I made a dozen of the Chocolate Almond Butter Maca Balls today and they were so delicious and super easy to make. In the end I decided to dip half the balls into mesquite powder. Not only were they as beautiful as any truffle I've ever seen, but the dusting created a slightly sweeter flavor. It's even more satisfying to know something so decadent is actually good for you as well! Thanks for the recipe!
